The southern Tennessee accent is a very popular accent commonly used in American writing and heard in films and plays in Hollywood and Broadway, but frequently used in the West End and fringe plays in the UK.

The ‘deep south’ accent is commonly mistaken for a generalised sound but plays and parts need specificity, these are the considerations a casting director will make when picking an actor for a role.
