Our experienced tutors will help you create images which are quite literally larger than life. Develop your technical knowledge as well as creativity to capture sharp, close-up images to a professional standard. This photography course is split between theoretical and practical sessions so you can develop a deep understanding of macro photography. The very small group size also means you’ll get plenty of one to one attention and feedback so you can improve rapidly. New to photography? Before attending this course you will need a basic knowledge of aperture, camera lenses, shutter speed and ISO including exposure modes. If you’re new to photography, then you may find it helpful to sign up to one of our Beginner Courses first. Macro explained – understand the difference between macro photography and close-up photography Magnification – ratios and life size measurements explained in depth Equipment – learn about the different pieces of equipment you need for successful macro photography Lighting techniques and accessories – explore different macro lighting techniques and discover a range of accessories (reflectors, shapers, diffusers etc) Camera settings – learn how to unleash the true potential of your camera with a detailed description and demonstration of camera settings in manual and semi-manual mode Composition – how to highlight the subject and other compositional elements in macro photography Photography Studio in the Heart of Waterloo Located in the heart of Waterloo, our fully equipped Photography Studio has everything you need to develop your skills, including studio lighting, backgrounds, cameras, tripods, props and more. Step outside and you are surrounded by brilliant shoot locations, from the Southbank, Leake Street Arches and Lower Marsh Market to Waterloo Bridge, the Thames riverside and the bold architecture of the National Theatre. It is an ideal setting for exploring studio lighting, portraiture, street photography, architecture, composition and natural light, with the city providing a constantly changing backdrop for your work. Do I need my own camera? Please bring a mirrorless camera, a DSLR camera or a compact camera with full manual controls, your camera’s manual, a fully charged battery, an empty memory card, comfortable shoes and an external flash (if owned, we can supply them if not). If you don’t have all of this please don't worry, we can provide all equipment as needed.
