Fast track your understanding of classical ballet, history and terminology, and learn alongside others in a fun and inclusive environment. Expertly crafted by our professional Ballet tutors, your week is structured so you gain a solid foundation to ballet. You are introduced to Ballet terminology and history, guided through repertoire pieces from iconic ballets such as ‘Swan Lake’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty’, and work out your muscles through warm-ups, ballet classes and barre sessions. With the right blend of movement, active learning and repertoire, move through the five days at a pace that has been designed specifically for those new to Ballet. After you complete this intensive course, you are at the level required to progress on to our Ballet Improvers Course, and you can continue your journey to become a fully proficient ballet dancer. BALLET SUMMER SCHOOL - COURSE CONTENT: During our Ballet Summer School you will: Gain a foundation in Classical Ballet techniques Build stamina and fitness in a fun environment Improve posture, balance and understanding of your sense of space Focus on specific elements of ballet such as turning (pirouettes) Gain confidence learning choreography ✓ Level This course is open to beginners and will offer a solid foundation in Classical Ballet technique ★ Styles Classical Ballet with repertory from some of the best known ballets 🛡 What to wear Form fitting clothing so your tutor can examine your form. Ballet shoes or socks are ideal. DAY ONE Day one starts with friendly introductions. You meet your tutor, who will mentor and guide you over the next five days. As with most days, you start with a warm-up and progress on to your first ballet class. You are introduced to the repertoire you will be learning during the week. DAY TWO You are introduced to choreography and repertoire today after your warm-up. You focus today on a contemporary creative movement workshop to create a sense of awareness of your body, and continue to strengthen your muscles and posture. DAY THREE After your morning warm-up, you will take part in a barre-fitness and flexibility workshop to get those muscles burning! Don’t worry, you will cool down with a session on choreography and repertoire. DAY FOUR Kick off the day with a technical ballet class and get stuck into choreography, borrowing from Musical Theatre to really bring out your inner performer. By the end of the day you are feeling confident about performing, your physicality and your ballet skills. DAY FIVE The final day of the course is centred showcasing your learning, and a chance to see all of your hard work come together. Ughetta Pratesi Ughetta completed her dance training at Trinity College and works as a freelance dancer and choreographer in London and Italy. She has collaborated with various artists, both as a dancer and movement director, including Danish choreographer Sarah Louise Kristiansen. MORE INFO Panagiotis Pavlopoulos Panagiotis has collaborated with many renowned choreographers including Andonis Foniadakis, Christine Gouzelis, Jasmin Vardimon. Pan has lots of experience performing, having danced in Martha Graham’s repertoire. He is part of Jasmin Vardimon Company 2, touring nationally. MORE INFO Lydia MacKenzie Lydia studied at the Central School of Ballet and is a passionate dance teacher. She has performed at the Royal Albert hall in ‘Classical Spectacular’, toured in the Ballet Central Tour and performed in the Corps de Ballet in Bermuda Civic’s Ballet production of Romeo and Juliet.
