Inspired by American Boogie, Rock & Roll, African-American Swing, the Jitterbug, and the Lindy Hop, Jive is one of the most high-energy, fun, and uplifting dance styles around. In just one session, you’ll explore its core techniques, learn beginner-friendly steps, and get a real feel for the music and movement. You can also start your dance journey with our Beginners Jive Dance Course, where you’ll develop your skills, partner work, and choreographed routines over several weeks. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN In your Jive Dance Taster Class, you will: Learn a few of the fundamental steps of essential jive dance. Tune into the musicality and learn to move to the rhythm of jive. Enjoy a short warm-up followed by some basic steps and choreography Practise basic jive footwork, partner work, and combinations. USEFUL INOFRMATION What is a Jive Dance Taster Class? A one-off, beginner-friendly session introducing you to the basics of jive dance, including footwork, partner work, and posture, all in a relaxed and welcoming environment. What are the benefits of taking a taster before joining a course? A taster gives you a first-hand experience of the style, pace, and teaching approach before committing to a longer course. It helps you build confidence, understand the fundamentals, and decide if jive is the right style for you. Do I need a partner? No, you can attend solo, and we’ll pair you up during the class so you can try partner work with different people. Do I need any dance experience? No previous dance experience is necessary, our tutors will guide you through each step at a pace that suits you. What should I wear?
