Our Creative Writing Beginners course is a practical and inspiring introduction to writing fiction, designed for adults who want to develop ideas, explore their imagination and build confidence on the page.

Available as either a 2-day intensive or a 6-week course, this class gives you time and structure to experiment with different writing techniques, develop original material and begin understanding how stories are shaped.

Working with an experienced writing tutor, you will explore character, plot, dialogue, setting and style through guided exercises, discussion and supportive feedback. Whether you are starting from a blank page or already have ideas you would like to develop, this course will help you take the next step in your writing.

You will be encouraged to share your work in class and learn from one another. You will also receive friendly feedback throughout the course. Students must have a good level of basic written English, as the course won’t focus on grammar or vocabulary.

The skills acquired aren't just useful for aspiring authors; Creative Writing is a great skill to develop business and personal writing, along with communication skills and confidence. At City Academy we offer two different length courses - a 1 day course and a 6 week course. They both provide an introduction to Creative Writing by exploring structure and form in various writing exercises. Our 6 week course based in central London will cover the content in more detail and therefore you will receive more individual and group feedback.
