The course is designed to introduce and develop the foundations of each dance style. You do not need professional experience, although the course is intensive and you should be prepared to learn at a focused pace. 1.1 Do I need experience in every dance style? No. Many students join with experience in only one style or with no formal dance training at all. Tutors will introduce the key principles of each discipline and support you as you develop. 2 Will I study every style every day? No. Styles rotate throughout the week. This allows you to focus on one or two disciplines in greater depth each day while revisiting the core styles regularly across the four weeks. 3 Is the timetable the same for every course? The overall structure will remain similar, but individual styles, tutors and session order may change. Tutors are working professionals, so occasional timetable adjustments may be required. 4 Do I need specialist dance shoes? Specialist shoes are not required for every session. Clean indoor trainers and comfortable clothing will cover most classes. You are welcome to bring ballet or jazz shoes if you already own them. 5 How physically demanding is the course? The programme involves approximately five hours of taught dance training each day. You do not need to be an advanced dancer, but a reasonable level of general fitness will help you manage the training. 6 Is the showcase compulsory? The showcase forms part of the course experience, and students are encouraged to participate. Please speak to the team before booking if you have concerns about performing. 7 Can friends and family attend the showcase? As tutors are working industry professionals, the teaching team may occasionally change. Where this happens, City Academy will provide another experienced tutor in the relevant dance discipline. 8 What should I bring with me? Please bring: A refillable water bottle Lunch and snacks Clean indoor trainers Ballet shoes, if you own them A spare top A small towel A notebook and pen Any required medication or personal support items You will be physically active throughout the day, so we recommend bringing enough food and water to maintain your energy.
