Four Weeks of Intensive Dance Training in London

This immersive four-week programme gives you the time and consistency needed to make meaningful progress as a dancer. Rather than attending isolated classes, you will follow a structured weekly timetable designed to strengthen your technique, improve your movement quality and develop your ability to learn and perform choreography.

You will train across contrasting dance disciplines, helping you become more adaptable, coordinated and confident. Each style develops a different part of your practice, while the repeated training across four weeks allows you to apply corrections, build stamina and see your progress.

Build a Strong and Versatile Dance Foundation

Develop your technique, versatility and confidence through four weeks of structured, full-time dance training. Work with professional tutors across ballet, jazz, contemporary and commercial dance, building strong foundations before bringing your training together in a final studio showcase.

How the Course Works

The Dance Foundation Course runs over four consecutive weeks, from Monday to Friday.

Your timetable will rotate between several styles, allowing you to train consistently while maintaining variety throughout the week. This is an example timetable. The order of styles and individual tutors may change between course dates.

Your Final Studio Showcase

At the end of the four-week programme, you will have the opportunity to bring your training together in an informal studio showcase.

Working with your tutors and fellow students, you will rehearse selected choreography and experience the excitement of sharing your progress in a supportive performance environment.

The showcase is designed to help you:

  • Apply your technique in performance
  • Develop stage presence and confidence
  • Experience rehearsing as part of an ensemble
  • Perform choreography with greater clarity and commitment
  • Celebrate your progress with your tutors and classmates

The format of the showcase may vary depending on the course group, timetable and venue.

Take the Next Step

In Your Dance Training

Experience four weeks of focused training, expert tuition and creative development in the heart of London.

Build stronger foundations, explore contrasting dance styles and discover what you can achieve through consistent, intensive practice.

1
Is this course suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The course is designed to introduce and develop the foundations of each dance style. You do not need professional experience, although the course is intensive and you should be prepared to learn at a focused pace.
1.1 Do I need experience in every dance style?
No. Many students join with experience in only one style or with no formal dance training at all. Tutors will introduce the key principles of each discipline and support you as you develop.
2
Will I study every style every day?
No. Styles rotate throughout the week. This allows you to focus on one or two disciplines in greater depth each day while revisiting the core styles regularly across the four weeks.
3
Is the timetable the same for every course?
The overall structure will remain similar, but individual styles, tutors and session order may change. Tutors are working professionals, so occasional timetable adjustments may be required.
4
Do I need specialist dance shoes?
Specialist shoes are not required for every session. Clean indoor trainers and comfortable clothing will cover most classes. You are welcome to bring ballet or jazz shoes if you already own them.
5
How physically demanding is the course?
The programme involves approximately five hours of taught dance training each day. You do not need to be an advanced dancer, but a reasonable level of general fitness will help you manage the training.
6
Is the showcase compulsory?
The showcase forms part of the course experience, and students are encouraged to participate. Please speak to the team before booking if you have concerns about performing.
7
Can friends and family attend the showcase?
As tutors are working industry professionals, the teaching team may occasionally change. Where this happens, City Academy will provide another experienced tutor in the relevant dance discipline.
8
What should I bring with me?
Please bring:
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Lunch and snacks
  • Clean indoor trainers
  • Ballet shoes, if you own them
  • A spare top
  • A small towel
  • A notebook and pen
  • Any required medication or personal support items

  • You will be physically active throughout the day, so we recommend bringing enough food and water to maintain your energy.
