A one-off beginner-friendly session designed to introduce you to the basics of Salsa, including posture, rhythm, and simple partner work. What are the benefits of taking a taster before joining a course? A taster helps you try the style, meet the tutor, and experience the pace and atmosphere of City Academy's salsa courses. You’ll gain confidence, learn the fundamentals, and see if Salsa is the right fit for you. Do I need a partner? No, you can come on your own and we’ll rotate partners during the class so everyone gets a chance to dance. Do I need any dance experience? No previous dance experience is needed. Our tutors will guide you step by step in a relaxed, welcoming environment. What should I wear? Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, along with supportive shoes. For inspiration, read our definitive guide on what to wear to a dance class. What is the difference between leaders and followers? The leader guides the direction of movement, and gives clear signals that invite their partner to move in a certain way. The follower responds to these signals with their own expression and style. It's not based on gender - anyone can be a leader or follower, and many people choose to learn both roles. Want to learn more?
