This gives you time to study each discipline in depth while experiencing different vocal styles throughout the week. Your timetable will rotate between several styles, allowing you to train consistently while maintaining variety throughout the week. Week One: Establish Your Vocal Foundations Begin by exploring how the voice and body work together. You will develop a reliable warm-up routine, study core vocal principles and begin singing as part of an ensemble. Sessions may include technique, harmony, musicality, a cappella singing, songwriting, movement and acting through song. You will also begin exploring your individual voice and identifying material that supports your development. Week Two: Expand Your Technique and Repertoire Apply your growing technical understanding to a broader range of vocal styles. Specialist workshops may explore rock, R&B, musical theatre, folk and other contemporary genres. You will work on the vocal qualities, phrasing and performance choices associated with each style. You may also explore vocal anatomy, Estill-based principles, harmony, active listening and the relationship between lead and backing vocals. Week Three: Find Your Individual Sound Broaden your stylistic range while making more confident artistic choices. You may explore jazz, funk, classical singing, belting, songwriting and performance with movement. You will also begin considering which songs best suit your voice, personality and musical identity. Book now Useful information 1 Is this course suitable for complete beginners? Yes. Beginners are welcome, and you do not need professional singing experience. The programme is intensive, so you should be willing to participate fully, sing regularly and perform material in front of the group. 1.1 Do I need to be able to read music? No. You do not need to sight-read music to join the course. Songs, harmonies and exercises will be taught through practical demonstration and guided rehearsal. 2 Will I have to sing solo? Solo singing forms an important part of the course because it allows tutors to provide feedback suited to your individual voice. You will be supported through the process, and solo work will take place in an encouraging learning environment. 3 How much solo singing is included? The balance between solo and group work depends on the size of the class, the timetable and the needs of the group. Students will have opportunities to sing independently, but the exact amount of individual coaching should be confirmed for each course. 4 Do I need to prepare a song before the course? The course may include movement for singers and simple performance choreography. You do not need to be a dancer. The movement work is designed to improve coordination, stage presence and confidence while singing. 5 Is there a final performance? Yes. The programme culminates in a live showcase where students can share selected solo and ensemble material. The venue, audience arrangements and performance format will be confirmed during the course. 6 Will there be live musicians? Previous courses have included live musicians for the final performance. This should be confirmed against the timetable for your selected course date before booking. 7 Can I join if English is not my first language? Yes. Singing can also support pronunciation, listening and confidence.
