Grow your stage persona with musicality and confidence and become the greatest entertainer in the field. Led by award-winning performer, Robert Hazle, in our course, you will explore suitable repertoire for your voice and personality/stage persona to build a short ‘set’ of songs. This might include anecdotes, repartee with the pianist, or audience interaction. If you’d like to warm up those vocal chords, there will also be an opportunity to sing with others. The course will finish with a showcase in a central cabaret venue in front of an invited audience and hosted by international cabaret superstar Joe Morose (“The Dandy Prince of Cabaret”) with Robert Hazle at the piano. CABARET SKILLS PERFORMANCE COURSE -COURSE CONTENT In this course, you will: Devise and rehearse a 10-minute cabaret set. Develop your repertoire and ‘acting through song’ skills. Practice mic technique and speaking in front of an audience. Explore building a rapport with an MD and audience. Encounter additional stagecraft skills such as clowning, fan dance and comedic timing. 📊 LEVEL Suitable for people who already have experience singing in front of audiences and wish to build their confidence. ★ WHAT TO WEAR? Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. 👥 WHAT TO BRING? Please bring 2 contrasting songs and if appropriate any other novelty ‘act’ you would like to incorporate (such as magic or drag). Please bring a printed copy of the sheet music and a bottle of water for hydration. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND LEVEL OF THIS COURSE?The course is open to anyone but best suited to people who already have experience singing in front of audiences and wish to build their confidence in extended solo performances or develop their own ‘act’. It is perfect if you have taken our Acting Through Song courses and wish to take that to the next level.
