Through practical exercises and guided discussion, you will look at story structure, narrative foundations and different ways into the writing process. Day 2: Character, Dialogue and Dramatic Energy You will focus on creating engaging characters, writing authentic dialogue and understanding how conflict, intention and interaction can bring writing to life. Day 3: Voice, Perspective and Style You will explore perspective, tense, voice and point of view, experimenting with how different choices can shape tone, pace and reader experience. Day 4: Form, Language and Imagination You will experiment with different writing forms, including prose, poetry, playwriting, screenwriting and writing for children. You will also explore imagery, metaphor, description and the use of vivid, precise language. Day 5: Editing, Feedback and Next Steps On the final day, you will review and develop your work, receive constructive feedback and identify clear next steps for continuing your writing. You will leave with new material, stronger creative tools and a clearer sense of direction. USEFUL INFORMATION Do I need previous writing experience? No. Beginners are very welcome, as well as writers with prior experience. Will I receive individual feedback? Yes. You will receive personalised feedback during the week, including a one-to-one session with your tutor. What genres will we cover? The course explores multiple formats including playwriting, screenwriting, writing for children, prose and poetry. Will I need to share my work? There will be opportunities to share your writing in a supportive environment, but you will never be pressured to share if you feel uncomfortable. Will I leave with completed work? You will leave with a developed body of writing, practical tools, and a clearer direction for continuing your project. Is this course suitable if I’m working on a specific project? Absolutely.
