This advanced level singing lesson focuses on expanding your musicality by working on a range of songs from differing genres. You will learn to adapt to register changes, experimenting with head and chest voices and high and low ranges. You will also become more confident with rhythmic freedom by exploring jazz stylistics as you play with pace, diction and solo performances. This course will include warm ups, developing vocal technique, working with rhythm and pace, and a supportive group learning environment with opportunities to perform solo. COURSE CONTENT The course will cover a range of carefully selected material to ensure it is challenging, varied, and above all, enjoyable. Learn some advanced breathing exercises to gain a holistic understanding of the respiratory system in relation to the body. Learn some advanced warm ups to develop areas such as articulation, intonation, rhythm, and tone. Explore repertoire from a diverse range of genres including, but not limited to: classical, opera, foreign language art songs, pop, musical theatre and jazz. Broaden your foreign repertoire by working with Latin and Italian languages, focusing on diction, texture and breath control. Strengthen your musical performance focusing on characterisation and storytelling. Sing as a group, including working on ensemble song choices and learning to sing harmonies, as well as the opportunity to sing solo. Explore more of the history of music, listen to wider repertoire to better understand how music has evolved, and place songs within a historical context. 🎵 REPERTOIRE Pop songs, jazz, foreign, opera, musical theatre 👤 TYPE Group and Solo performances 📊 LEVEL Must have completed Singing Level 3 or equivalent elsewhere 🎥 EQUIPMENT Water, note pad and pencil, a reusable straw ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND LEVEL OF THIS COURSE? This course is suitable for those who have completed a Singing Level 3 course and/or prepared to sing from memory. Students must possess an understanding of their voice, have previous singing experience and confidence in singing solo. The ability to hear notes and sing them back as well as good spoken and written English is required. HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT? This course is taught within groups and also incorporates solo masterclasses. Each week will begin with a thorough vocal warm up before going on to develop and apply key vocal techniques and approaches to develop your confidence and singing skills. Students will have the opportunity to sing a broad range of repertoire each week. Your voice will grow in strength and flexibility and you’ll gain a sense of control and confidence when singing. Best of all, you’ll have a lot of fun, and meet like-minded new people. BY THE END OF THE COURSE, WHAT WILL I HAVE ACHIEVED? Students will have: Developed confidence in their vocal ability, improving range and tone. Gained further insight into their individual instrument, movement and vocal health. Explored key elements of their chosen genre i.e. improvisation, lyrical interpretation, musicality, interaction with accompaniment. Demonstrated learnt technique within an informal sharing to friends and family on the final session.
