The company is led by award-winning dancer and choreographer Kirill Burlov, whose impressive credits include Rambert, Northern Ballet, Michael Clark Company and English National Ballet. Perform. The Contemporary Dance Company is designed for dancers who want to move beyond weekly classes and become part of an ongoing creative ensemble. As a company member, you will work with a professional choreographer to develop original contemporary performance material. Weekly rehearsals combine technique, improvisation, creative exploration and detailed choreographic work, allowing each dancer to contribute to the company’s developing repertoire. You will experience the discipline of rehearsing towards a shared artistic goal while developing the individuality, versatility and performance presence needed to communicate movement to an audience. This is not simply a class where a new routine is taught each week. The company works collaboratively over time to create, refine and perform complete pieces. Weekly Company Training Take part in weekly 2-hour advanced training sessions designed to develop technique, consistency and performance readiness. Original Contemporary Repertoire Work with a professional choreographer to create, build and refine original contemporary performance material. Creative Collaboration Contribute to the company’s developing repertoire through improvisation, creative exploration and shared choreographic work. Musicality and Dynamic Expression Enhance musicality, timing and dynamic expression so your movement feels more detailed, responsive and alive. Load More Meet your company leader Kirill Burlov is an internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer and teacher. A former soloist with the Latvian National Ballet and Northern Ballet, he later joined Rambert, where he performed and created original contemporary works. With decades of international experience, Kirill brings exceptional artistry, knowledge and inspiration to City Academy’s Contemporary Dance Company.
