Drawing for Comics and Graphic Novels

Do you want to learn to draw comics and graphic novels?

Our exciting Draw Comics and Graphic Novels classes introduces you to basic techniques for making comics - covering both drawing and narrative techniques - with a series of fun individual exercises in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Using pencil, pens, paper and a template sheet or two you will learn how to design consistent characters, produce a simple full narrative and create a mini-comic of your own.

Beginners and more advanced artists are welcome, as is anyone with an interest in designing their own characters, telling their own stories and who fancies making their own photocopy-able comic.

Whatever your taste in comics, from Manga to Maus, this enjoyable course explores basic techniques that you can use to develop your work, and instill the confidence to create and reproduce your own material with simple but effective resources.

DRAWING FOR COMICS AND GRAPHIC NOVELS CLASSES - CONTENT

During our lessons, you will:

• Start off by sketching characters
• Explore techniques to help make these characters consistent and to reflect their personalities
• Learn to use panels and page layouts to reflect the timing and actions in a comic narrative sequence
• Receive, guidance and feedback the whole way
• Produce a mini-comic that you can take away and photocopy

Pencils, pens and paper will be provided, but please feel free to bring examples of comics or characters you like.
