Participate in a planned progression of technique and repertoire singing lessons, masterclasses and workshops, concentrating on core vocal techniques designed to give students a foundation in singing and performance skills. Our course is formulated to give a rounded base in vocal performance and technique, building confidence and skills through a practical approach to training. SINGING FOUNDATION COURSE CONTENT: Our Singing Foundation course has been designed to give you a solid foundation in singing. In a group session you will learn: Technique – developing your vocal range, improving your breath control and discovering a new found confidence in your voice. Students will be introduced to a number of techniques and approaches including the Estill voice qualities. Repertoire – exploring a range of music genres and harmony work during ensemble classes. Learning how to achieve a good quality vocal performance while using your voice in a safe and healthy manner. Solo – working on your individual approach and styling during solo rehearsals. Specialist Workshops – acting through song, acappella, songwriting and movement. Showcase: Throughout the week you will rehearse songs, working on musicality and performance skills. This course culminates in an informal studio showcase for a small group of friends and family you may wish to invite. Like many courses on our intensive programme, this course is suitable for complete beginners and those who possess a passion and curiosity to learn more about their voice. Students will learn about vocal technique, breathing, posture and application of this technique across a broad repertoire. Students must be able have a good level of spoken and written English. HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT? Our Foundation courses are taught within groups and also incorporate solo masterclasses. Each week will begin with a thorough vocal warm up before going on to discover key vocal techniques and approaches to develop your confidence and singing skills. Students will have the opportunity to sing a broad range of repertoire. Your voice will grow in strength and flexibility and you’ll gain a sense of control and confidence when singing. Best of all, you’ll have a lot of fun, and meet like-minded new people. BY THE END OF THE COURSE, WHAT WILL I HAVE ACHIEVED? Students will have: Developed greater confidence in their vocal ability and singing as part of a group. Gained further insight into their individual voice and explored a solo song of their choice. Grasped an understanding of the vocal mechanism and how sound is made. Demonstrated good posture when singing and an understanding of effective breathing. Progressed through a number of vocal warm-ups and technique exercises. Explored a range of creative workshops and styling activities. Demonstrated learnt technique within an informal sharing to friends and family on the final session AFTER I COMPLETE THIS COURSE, WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS IN MY TRAINING? Students may wish to do a beginners course and consolidate their technique before moving onto Level 2 singing courses. Level 2 courses focus on solidifying technique, widening repertoire knowledge and developing tone, range and vocal style. Solo elements are also incorporated within level 2 where students are encouraged to sing solo within the ensemble songs. His studies include the scientific practice of external vibration to relieve excessive muscular and neurological tension. With a passion in all areas of the performing arts, Sophie has over 15 years of experience in singing with students ranging from total beginners to professionals. MORE INFO JONNY BLACK Jonny was the lead singer and songwriter for the indie/rock band 'Dupe' before going on to train in musical theatre at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He has appeared in a number of touring and West End productions including Blood Brothers and Rock Legends.
