Ever wanted to know what makes the storylines of great sitcoms so captivating and funny? Our Sitcom Writing for Beginners course is a practical, lively and playful introduction to the world of situation comedy. You’ll explore how successful sitcoms are constructed, how memorable characters interact, and how comic stories are built. Guided by our expert tutors, you’ll experiment with creating your own sitcom ideas - developing characters, dialogue, and storylines in a supportive and creative environment. Throughout the course you’ll watch clips, discuss classic and contemporary sitcoms, and most importantly, spend time writing and developing your own comedic material with fellow students. This beginner-friendly course focuses on learning the craft of sitcom writing while having plenty of fun along the way. All you need is a pen, paper, a sense of humour, and a willingness to get involved. Like all of our writing courses, you’ll receive friendly, constructive feedback from your teacher throughout the course. The opportunity to discuss and share your ideas with a group of fellow writers can be an incredibly useful part of the creative process, helping you develop the style and scope of your writing.
