As a performer, actor or dancer, this course will free up your creative practice and enhance your improvisation capabilities through movement. You’ll experience a release from the constraints of traditional choreography. Beginners with no previous dance experience are welcome. If you have a curiosity for movement, this course will expand your movement vocabulary and teach you to express your own unique style through characterisation and interpretation. Throughout this dance course, you will create your own solo pieces and work as a group using a mix of unique choreography to curate a performance that you will show informally at the end of the course. CREATIVE MOVEMENT & PERFORMANCE COURSE CONTENTThe performance course is based on a method used by physical and occupational therapists, actors and dancers called 'Laban Movement Analysis' which is a way to describe, visualize, interpret and document human movement. You'll discover elements of this practice through: Moving with Others - learn to move with, and interpret the movement of others, make contact and collaborate as a group Choreography - devise original choreography through play and exploration Creative Workshops - draw inspiration from photography, art and music, and explore ways to develop movement phrases in a space Performance - A sharing of work in the final week to demonstrate the creative and improvised skills developed ✏️ Training Led by a professional dance teacher and practitioner 📊 Level Beginners and more experienced dancers and performers welcome 🎵 Styles Movement, Choreography, Improvisation ✏️ Equipment Comfortable, loose fitting clothing and knee pads suitable for floor work (tutor will advise on at first session), thick socks and a notebook BALLET SUMMER SCHOOLS Our adult Ballet Summer School and Intensive courses are perfect for those looking to train in a longer, more intensive format.
