Our Ballet Classes - Pointe Beginners are an inclusive introduction to pointe work. This beginner course will focus mainly on warming up your feet through articulation and strengthening exercises on the floor and at the barre. Gradually advancing, under the guidance of your tutor to confidently move off the barre and into the centre. Assistance with shoe preparations and adjustments will be provided as and when needed. Who is the course suitable for? This course is for those with previous Ballet experience - Pointe shoes will only be worn when the tutor feels the students are strong enough. This is an advanced course designed for experienced dancers. If you have any hesitations about whether this class is right for you, please contact our Student Services team for guidance. For those new to Ballet or with little experience try our Beginners or Improvers Ballet courses before progressing onto our Pointe classes. Begin pointe work in a supportive class designed for dancers with ballet experience Build strength and articulation through the feet and ankles Develop greater confidence working at the barre and progressing towards centre practice Improve alignment, balance, posture and technical control Learn how to approach pointe work safely and gradually Receive tutor guidance on shoe preparation, adjustments and readiness Strengthen the foundations needed for more confident classical ballet technique Train at a pace that supports safe development and individual progress Pointe Foundations Begin developing the strength, control and technical awareness needed for safe introductory pointe work. Foot and Ankle Strength Prepare the feet and ankles through focused articulation and strengthening exercises on the floor and at the barre. Barre Support Build confidence working on pointe at the barre, developing balance, placement and alignment with support. Centre Progression Gradually work towards moving away from the barre as your strength, control and confidence develop. Pointe Shoe Guidance Receive support with pointe shoe preparation, adjustments and practical guidance as needed. Safe Technical Development Progress under tutor guidance, with pointe shoes worn only when the tutor advises that you are ready. If your pointe shoes are new, we recommend sewing the ribbons and elastic onto your shoes before attending to ensure you can take part fully in the practical exercises. Comfortable ballet attire is recommended, and don't forget to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated throughout the class. With Pointe shoes we recommend having a professional Pointe shoe fitting - you can do this in London at one of the following stores: Freed of London, Bloch, The Pointe Shoe Centre or Dancia How to prep your Pointe shoes Advanced Ballet 3 Months For more intense training, you can audition for our Advanced Ballet Course - 3 months.
