This intermediate level singing lesson digs deeper into the performance elements of different genres. You will develop more confidence in solo, ensemble and singing in harmony as well as further understanding of the origins and development of vibrant singing. This course will cover: warm ups, vocal health, more advanced vocal technique, repertoire from a variety of genres with an emphasis on their stylistics, and a supportive group learning environment with opportunities to perform solo. COURSE CONTENT The course will cover a range of carefully selected material to ensure it is challenging, varied, and above all, enjoyable. Learn some advanced breathing exercises to gain holistic understanding of the respiratory system in relation to the body Learn some advanced warm ups to develop areas such as articulation, intonation, rhythm, and tone Explore repertoire from a diverse range of genres including, but not limited to: classical, contemporary classical, foreign language art songs, gospel, pop, rock, musical theatre, folk, and jazz Build upon the fundamentals of singing, gaining a more solid base of technique Sing as a group, including working on ensemble song choices and learning to sing harmonies, as well as the opportunity to sing solo Explore more of the history of music, listen to wider repertoire to better understand how music has evolved, and place songs within a historical context 🎵 REPERTOIRE Art songs, gospel, pop, rock, musical theatre, folk, and jazz 👤 TYPE Group and Solo performances 📊 LEVEL Must have completed Singing Level 2 or equivalent elsewhere 🎥 EQUIPMENT Water, note pad and pencil, a reusable straw ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND LEVEL OF THIS COURSE? This course is suitable for those who have completed a Singing Level 2 course and/or prepared to sing from memory. Students must possess an understanding of their voice, have previous singing experience and confidence in singing solo. The ability to hear notes and sing them back as well as good spoken and written English is required. HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT? This course is taught within groups and also incorporates solo masterclasses. Each week will begin with a thorough vocal warm up before going on to develop and apply key vocal techniques and approaches to develop your confidence and singing skills. Students will have the opportunity to sing a broad range of repertoire each week. Your voice will grow in strength and flexibility and you’ll gain a sense of control and confidence when singing. Best of all, you’ll have a lot of fun, and meet like-minded new people.BY THE END OF THE COURSE, WHAT WILL I HAVE ACHIEVED? Students will have: Developed confidence in their vocal ability, improving range and tone. Gained further insight into their individual instrument, movement and vocal health. Explored key elements of their chosen genre i.e. improvisation, lyrical interpretation, musicality, interaction with accompaniment. Demonstrated learnt technique within an informal sharing to friends and family on the final session. AFTER I COMPLETE THIS COURSE, WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS IN MY TRAINING? Students may wish to repeat this course to further their performance and musicianship skills. After you've completed our Singing Level 3 course, you might want take our most advanced course, Singing Lessons Level 4 and go on to join one of our City Academy Choirs. Our choirs are open to anyone with some previous singing experience.
