Whether you’re new to filmmaking or looking to sharpen your practical skills, you’ll gain real experience working as part of a creative crew. ✓ Day 1 Working in small groups, you’ll form your own production team and plan your shoot—assigning roles, developing your approach, and preparing to film. With guidance from your tutor, you’ll head out on location in the local area to put your skills into practice, capturing your scenes in a real-world environment. ★ Day 2: Editing (In Studio) Back in the studio, you’ll transform raw footage into a finished short film working in Adobe Premiere. You’ll be guided through the fundamentals of editing, learning how to structure your narrative, select scenes and enhance your film using professional techniques. By the end of the day, you’ll have a completed short film—and a deeper understanding of the entire filmmaking process from start to finish. Useful information 1 Do I need previous filmmaking experience? No. This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with a little experience who want to build confidence and skills. 2 Is all equipment provided? Yes. You'll be working with professional BlackMagic Cameras, lighting, sound equipment, and editing facilities. If you have your own kit you'd prefer to use you're welcome to do that. 3 Will I get to direct actors? Yes, Professional actors are provided so you can focus on directing and bringing your story to life. 4 Do I get to keep my film? Yes. You’ll take home your completed short film at the end of the course to use in your portfolio or share online. 5 How big are the classes? We keep class sizes small to ensure everyone gets the chance to take on key crew roles and receive personalised guidance.
