Shadow invites filmmakers to immerse yourself in the art and science of movie-making, guided by some of the best in the business. With Shadow, you can master your craft and watch the crew in action behind the camera. Create an ensemble based short film written by a new London writer and see your work come to life by attending a premier of the movie. As well as this, you will earn an official film credit, be listed on IMDb, and be a part of a film entering BAFTA and Academy Award qualifying film festivals. BEHIND THE CAMERA: FILMMAKING Shadow industry professionals while they prep and shoot a short film. Prep in a professional studio for a short film with some of the industry's best in the business. Learn in your chosen department from prep to shoot to edit. You will be on set where your chosen department head will breakdown their workflow for you to take inspiration from, whether you want to be a focus puller and learn on the Arri Hi-5 or a dop and see how they set up each scene and what lighting they use to tell the story. The opportunity to shadow the director will be all hands on deck while they prep with the actors and HoD’s and prepare to make a short film. Come along on recce’s and then once everyone is in place, get on set and see how the crew work with the actors to create their vision. 📅 HOW LONG IS THIS EXPERIENCE? SCHEDULE Immerse yourself in 2 days of prep with your chosen department where you will be prepping kit and learn various techniques as well as meeting the pros. Next, enjoy a 5 day shoot on set shadowing each role and getting to know your department head. Get involved in a 4 day edit session and shadow the editor to see how they put the film together alongside the director. POST PRODUCTION Attend a premiere of your film in which you can invite friends, family, agents and creatives and see your work come to life YOUR DIRECTOR "My name is Dan Lowenstein and I am the co-creator of Shadow alongside City Academy. He has performed extensively in theatre productions at the National Theatre before co-writing and playing the title role in the critically acclaimed play, ‘FOG’.
