Begin your choir journey with City Academy’s Amplified Choir - our dedicated pop and rock choir for singers who love belting out indie anthems, chart classics, and rock favourites in a vibrant, upbeat setting.

Whether you’re new to choirs or looking to take your singing to the next level, Amplified is the perfect starting point. No auditions, no sheet music required, just a passion for singing and the willingness to learn.

With weekly rehearsals led by Musical Director Liam Connery, you’ll gain the confidence to perform live in two spectacular concerts each year as part of our summer and winter show seasons, while also joining a welcoming community of singers from all walks of life.

Meet Your Musical Director

Amplified is led by an experienced musical director and professional vocalist with extensive live-performance experience.

Liam creates energetic contemporary arrangements and supports members in developing their vocal technique, harmony skills and confidence. His rehearsals combine focused musical development with the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that makes Amplified such a strong community.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Who can join Amplified Choir?

Amplified is open to anyone aged 18+ with a passion for singing. If you’re a complete beginner, we recommend taking our Beginner’s Singing Course first before joining the choir.

Do I need to audition?

No audition is required. You’ll simply join a taster rehearsal where the Musical Director will ensure the pace of learning feels manageable.

Do I need to read sheet music?

No – everything is taught by ear. The focus is on singing, listening, and learning together.

What if I can’t make every rehearsal?

We understand people have busy lives. You don’t need to attend every session, but we do ask members to commit as much as possible, especially in the lead-up to performances.

What performances will I take part in?

Amplified Choir performs in two major concerts each year – one in summer and one in winter – giving you the opportunity to showcase your progress on stage.
