This course builds on your existing skills with a focus on spontaneity, impulse, and creative play, all within a supportive and challenging environment. Across the course, you’ll expand your technical range and confidence as a performer, while working towards a prepared showing of your work in the final session. WHAT YOU’LL LEARN This course is practical, explorative, and designed to deepen your understanding of performance. You’ll cover: Improvised & scripted scene work – develop your instincts and work with a variety of texts Confidence & creativity – strengthen your personal expression and spontaneity Character and objective work – use environment and motivation to bring scenes to life Voice and movement – unlock freedom and range through targeted vocal and physical exercises Stagecraft & rehearsal technique – understand blocking, staging, and how to rehearse effectively Scripts are provided and each session includes feedback and direction from your professional tutor. Whether you’re naturally bold or quietly curious, this course gives you permission to play, explore and take risks — without judgement. ⚙️ Character Building & Objectives Learn how to develop rich, believable characters by exploring their motivations, relationships and environments. You’ll use practical tools to uncover how characters think, feel and act — and why. 🙂 Voice & Body for Performance Discover how to use your voice and body to tell a story. With targeted exercises, you’ll explore clarity, projection, breath control and physicality — all essential tools for compelling performance. 🔀 Stagecraft & Rehearsal Technique Understand the technical side of performance, from blocking and positioning to timing and working as an ensemble. You’ll learn rehearsal techniques that mirror professional practice, helping you feel prepared and polished. USEFUL INFORMATION 1 Who is this course suitable for? This course is ideal for anyone who has completed the Beginners Acting Course (with us or elsewhere) or who has some prior acting or drama training. 2 Will I be doing a performance at the end? There is no formal public performance, but the course culminates in a showing of work during the final session – a chance to put your learning into practice and receive feedback. 3 Do I need to bring anything? No – all scripts and materials are provided. Just wear comfortable clothing you can move in and bring a bottle of water. 4 What acting methods will I be taught? We take a multi-disciplinary approach, drawing on a variety of techniques including Stanislavski, Meisner, Method, and Boal. This allows you to explore different ways of working and discover what suits your style. 5 Can I repeat this course? Yes – in fact, we recommend taking each level more than once with different tutors. You won’t repeat content, and each teacher brings a fresh perspective, new material, and unique exercises to challenge you. 6 What comes after the Improvers course? Once you’ve developed confidence and consistency at this level, you may wish to move on to our Advanced Acting Course, or audition for one of our performance-based company projects, such as the Assemble Theatre Company or the Actors Company.
