The idea of portraying a neutral English accent for a part in an audition can be daunting, especially those that do not use English as their first language. In our voice and accent classes, you will work creatively and practically at mastering the characteristics of a New Standard English accent and applying these to text. Our expert Voice Coaches will work with you in a group setting to explore the elements of the accent and work with you to achieve clarity and confidence. Intonation and Rhythm Develop greater awareness of intonation patterns and speech rhythm, helping your accent work feel more natural and connected. Text and Monologue Work Apply accent technique directly to scripts, monologues and performance text, building confidence using the accent in context. Independent Practice Learn practical exercises and strategies you can continue using beyond the course to support long-term accent development. Useful information Do I need previous accent training? No. This course is suitable for both beginners and experienced actors who want to refine or adapt their accent. Is this course only for non-native English speakers? Not at all. While it’s valuable for non-native speakers, it’s equally beneficial for native speakers who want to adjust regional sounds to a neutral English accent. What do I need to bring? Bring a short piece of text - this could be a poem, a novel extract, or a monologue — to practise applying your accent work. Will I get feedback on my progress? Yes.
