Our 5 day Dance Foundation course is ideal for those looking for more intensive training and wishing to build a solid foundation in dance technique.

During the course you will raise your performance ability and further your knowledge across a variety of dance genres, all helping you to gain confidence to pursue future dance training.

FOUNDATION COURSE CURRICULUM PLAN

The Dance Foundation course has been designed to provide a varied yet intense overview at the foundational level. It will establish the groundwork for you to move into specific dance styles that you feel suit you best.The content covered will include:

Ballet classes to:

• Increase coordination and balance
• Improve body awareness through posture and alignment
• Increase flexibility and develop core strength
• Learn ease and grace of movement

Contemporary classes to:

• Learn dynamics and travelling through space
• Learn the precise techniques of swings, drops, accents, length, contractions and more
• Build an understanding of motion, dropping of weight and fullness of movements

Improvisation classes to:

• Experiment with relating to other dancers in the space (contact improvisation)
• Learn the ability to improvise through dance
• Develop confidence in the ability to let body lead movement

Strength & Flexibility to:

• Increase flexibility through dance exercises and good stretching practices
• Body conditioning: core strength, posture and alignment

Jazz/Commercial classes to:

• Learn precise techniques of kicks, turns, leaps and isolations
• Cardiovascular work, mobilisation, stretching and strengthening
• Explore different styles of commercial dance from Jazz, Street, Hip-Hop and Diva

Choreography/Repertoire to:

• Learn samples of choreography from a variety of dance styles (Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary etc)
• Learn classic repertoire from past and current choreographers (Graham, Cunningham etc)

Creative Workshop to:

• Learn samples of choreography from a variety of dance styles (Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary etc)
• Put the day's work into practice through tasks, experimenting and creating
