With weekly evening rehearsals and regular performances throughout the year, the company offers a unique opportunity to take your ballroom dancing beyond the classroom and into the world of performance. You’ll train in a collaborative company environment, working with experienced choreographers to develop polished routines, strengthen musicality and build a confident stage presence. For dancers who love Ballroom and want to push their abilities further, the Ballroom Dance Company provides the perfect next step. Course & Membership Schedule If you’re interested in joining the Ballroom Dance company, you must attend a taster session. During the taster you will attend a regular rehearsal and meet the rest of the group. The Company Leader will also take the opportunity to watch you dance as well as assess your suitability for the group. Load More WHAT YOU’LL LEARN Through weekly rehearsals, you will: Refine Ballroom technique and styling Improve posture, frame and body coordination Strengthen musicality, timing and rhythm interpretation Learn advanced choreography across multiple Ballroom styles Develop performance presence and stage confidence Work collaboratively within a dance company environment Each rehearsal focuses on both technical improvement and performance preparation, helping you develop as a well-rounded dancer. USEFUL INFORMATION Do I need to audition? Instead of a formal audition, you can attend a rehearsal session to experience the company and demonstrate your level. What level do I need to join? You should have completed the Intermediate Ballroom course at City Academy or have equivalent experience. How often does the company rehearse? The company rehearses weekly in the evening. Will I perform in shows? Yes. Members have opportunities to perform at various events throughout the year. What happens after I attend a taster class? Following the session, you will receive an email inviting you to join the company or suggesting further training. Do I need to commit to the performances? Yes. Once you join the company for a performance cycle, attendance is expected to ensure choreography is staged correctly.
