Threshold Theatre Company perform in multiple stage productions a year, with each production offering two performances. Actors join the Company for a production as per the scheduled which involves: Weekly rehearsals Final full day tech rehearsal Two live shows in a theatre Performing to a paying audience ✏️ TRAINING Rehearsal as an ensemble and perform live in a London theatre 📊 LEVEL Improvers level and above are welcome to audition THRESHOLD THEATRE COMPANY AUDITIONS Auditions for the Threshold Theatre Company Production are now open! This paid performance opportunity is for those actors with some prior stage experience who enjoy expert direction as part of an ensemble. AUDITION NOW PROFESSIONAL DIRECTORS Sam Holland-Bunyan is an award-winning director, writer, actor and acting tutor trained at Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Birkbeck, where she graduated with distinction and won the Peter Cheeseman Award for outstanding achievement in directing. Following a successful acting career with leading theatres including the National, Royal Court and Hampstead, she moved into directing and writing, working across the UK and internationally with venues including the Royal Exchange Manchester and Camden People’s Theatre. Her practice combines physical theatre, ensemble-building, improvisation and Stanislavski’s active analysis, encouraging actors to approach text through imagination, playfulness and embodied performance rather than purely intellectual interpretation. Sam creates collaborative, supportive rehearsal spaces where performers can take risks, build confidence and develop a strong sense of physical truth, freedom and creative agency. WHO CAN JOIN? To join The Actors Company it is necessary to come along to an Audition. There is nothing to prepare, just come along ready to have some fun and work creatively with company members and the director. USEFUL INFORMATION Who is the Actors’ Theatre Company for? This Threshold Theatre Company is designed for experienced performers. You should have significant acting training (such as completion of Acting for Improvers 2 or equivalent), and ideally some performance experience. It’s perfect for those ready to work at a high level within a committed ensemble. Is there an audition process? Yes. Entry is by audition only. This ensures the ensemble is working at a consistent level and can take on the demands of a full-scale production. Auditions are informal but focused. How do I apply for an audition? You can apply directly via the course page. Once we receive your application, a member of the team will be in touch to schedule your audition and provide preparation guidelines. What kind of plays will we perform? You’ll work on challenging, published plays—from contemporary drama to modern classics—selected to suit the company’s skills and interests. Past productions have included ensemble-led pieces, Shakespeare and character-driven dramas. Who leads the company? The company is directed by a professional theatre practitioner with extensive industry experience. You may also collaborate with guest creatives and technical professionals during the production phase. Will I receive a speaking role? Yes. All cast members are assigned a speaking role based on the outcome of the audition process and the demands of the play. Roles are selected to challenge and showcase your abilities. Where will we perform? The final performance is staged in a professional London theatre. These venues are fully equipped and open to the public, offering a genuine industry-standard performance experience. How big is the company? Typically 12–16 performers. This size ensures strong ensemble cohesion while giving each actor a meaningful role and rehearsal focus. Can I invite guests to the final show? Yes. The performance is ticketed and open to the public. Friends, family, and industry guests are welcome to attend.
