It’s also a fun, rewarding way to keep fit, improve posture, and build flexibility. At City Academy, you can experience ballet in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for complete beginners. If you’ve always wanted to try ballet but aren’t sure if it’s for you, our Ballet Taster Classes are a great starting point. In just one session, you’ll explore the basics of ballet and discover the joy of movement. Alternatively join us for a full course in Absolute Beginners Ballet or Beginners Ballet, where you’ll build your skills week by week in a structured and encouraging environment. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN In your Ballet Taster Class, you will: Understand correct Ballet posture and develop greater awareness of your body in space. Improve basic coordination Learn a simple combination of ballet steps to music. Practise barre exercises and stretches, including learning the names and meanings of each movement. This short introductory class offers you the chance to experience the art of ballet in a supportive, group setting. USEFUL INOFRMATION What is a Ballet Taster Class? A Ballet Taster Class is a one-off, beginner-friendly session designed to give you a first-hand introduction to ballet in a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. What are the benefits of taking a taster before joining a course? A taster lets you experience the teaching style, pace, and class environment before committing to a full course. It builds confidence, helps you understand the basics, and ensures ballet is the right fit for you. Do I need any experience or special clothing? No previous experience is necessary. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, and soft ballet shoes or socks will work perfectly for your first class. What happens if I enjoy the taster? If you enjoy the session, you can join our Beginners Ballet Course to continue your learning journey. This structured programme will help you develop your technique, strength, and musicality over several weeks, giving you the confidence to progress further in ballet.
