Jon Barton

Jon Barton is an award-winning screenwriter and author. His debut novel, Little Creatures, won the A.M. Heath / Orion Crime Writing Prize, was shortlisted for First Novel Prize, longlisted for Goldfinch Novel Award, BPA Pitch Prize and First Novel Award and Cheshire Novel Prize.

Bio

He was recently longlisted for the Exeter Short Story Prize. A BAFTA member and former BFI Script Reader, Jon currently works for Audible and The Literary Consultancy. Plays for theatre have toured the UK and venues including Royal Court, Almeida, Lyric Hammersmith and Old Vic. He was longlisted twice for the Bruntwood Prize and shortlisted twice for Papatango Prize. He is currently under commission at Chalk Line, and TV credits include Holby City. Jon holds an MA in Dramaturgy and Script Development from Exeter University and teaches creative writing across London, including for Iconic Steps, The King’s Trust, Lambeth Adult Learning and Fordham University. He is a prolific mentor, freelance editor, and veteran tutor at City Academy.
