Across the week, you’ll explore multiple writing forms - including playwriting, screenwriting, writing for children, prose and poetry - led by industry professionals who understand both the creative and commercial sides of writing. By the end of the course, you won’t just have ideas - you’ll have developed work, sharper skills, and a clearer understanding of your unique voice as a writer. What You Will Learn Over five intensive days, you will: Develop strong story structure and narrative foundations Build believable characters and authentic dialogue Experiment with perspective, tense, and voice Use description, imagery, and metaphor with precision Understand the importance of editing and critical thinking Gain insight into different writing industries and pathways Refine a substantial piece of your own original writing You’ll also receive individual tutor feedback and have the opportunity to share your work in a supportive group environment. Day One Story & Structure - Explore narrative foundations and the building blocks of compelling storytelling. Includes guided writing time. Day Two Description & Imagery - Learn how to use detail, metaphor and sensory language to deepen your writing. Day Three Perspective & Tense - Experiment with narrative viewpoint and refine your technical control. Includes a one-to-one tutorial. Day Four Critical Thinking & Editing - Develop your analytical eye and learn how to strengthen your work through thoughtful revision. Day Five Sharing & Industry Insight - Share selected pieces in a supportive setting and gain insight into the writing industry and next steps. USEFUL INFORMATION Do I need previous writing experience? No. Beginners are very welcome, as well as writers with prior experience. Will I receive individual feedback? Yes. You will receive personalised feedback during the week, including a one-to-one session with your tutor. What genres will we cover? The course explores multiple formats including playwriting, screenwriting, writing for children, prose and poetry. Will I need to share my work? There will be opportunities to share your writing in a supportive environment, but you will never be pressured to share if you feel uncomfortable. Will I leave with completed work? You will leave with a developed body of writing, practical tools, and a clearer direction for continuing your project. Is this course suitable if I’m working on a specific project? Absolutely.
